How soon can I expect my engraving to be completed?
Our goal is to complete all engravings within three months of receiving your order — and often sooner. That said, several factors can affect our timeline, and we want to be upfront about them.
We know this work matters deeply — and so do your questions. Here's everything families most often ask us about our process, services, and what it's like to work with LetterNstone.
Our goal is to complete all engravings within three months of receiving your order — and often sooner. That said, several factors can affect our timeline, and we want to be upfront about them.
Not at all — we come to you. Kevin and Bradlee travel directly to the cemetery or property, so there's no drop-off or pickup required on your end. Just give us a call or send an email and we'll walk you through everything from there.
We do our best to respond to every message within 24 hours — whether you reach out by phone, email, or text. We know that when families contact us, time and peace of mind both matter, and we take that seriously.
Once we're able to get started on your project, most cemetery lettering and monument engraving jobs are completed in a single on-site visit. Larger custom projects — like new monument manufacturing or complex artwork — may take a few weeks from start to finish depending on design complexity and scheduling. As always, our goal is to complete every order within three months of receiving it, and we'll give you an honest timeline before we begin.
For most cemetery lettering, we'll need the name, dates, and any inscription or verse you'd like included. If you have a design reference, a photo of the existing monument, or a specific lettering style in mind, share that too. We'll guide you through the rest during our initial conversation.
Yes. For custom projects and new monument designs, we can provide a layout proof for your approval before any engraving begins. We want you to feel completely confident in the final result — nothing gets set in stone until you're happy with it.
We completely understand — grief doesn't move on a schedule, and details sometimes change. Just reach out as early as possible and we'll do everything we can to accommodate your request. We're a family business, and we treat every client the way we'd want to be treated ourselves.
Yes, and we do so regularly. Funeral homes and cemetery directors can contact us directly to arrange engraving services on behalf of a family. We're easy to work with and understand the time-sensitive nature of this work. Families are also always welcome to contact us directly — there's no requirement to go through a funeral home.
Yes — final date engraving and death date engraving refer to the same thing. When a loved one passes away, the date of death needs to be engraved on the existing headstone or monument. You may hear it called the final date, death date, final date, passing date, or date of death — they all mean the same service.
We take matching very seriously — it's something we've refined across thousands of engravings, and we believe it's what truly sets us apart. When we engrave an final date on an existing monument, we study the original lettering carefully: the font, the letter spacing, the carving depth, the paint or fill color, and the surface finish. Every one of those details matters, and we work to replicate all of them.
We've heard this question from many of our partners, and the answer is usually the same: they came to us after struggling to find someone who could consistently deliver the quality their families deserved. Final date engraving is permanent work on a memorial that will stand for generations. Families notice when it's done wrong — and they notice when it's done right.
Yes — this is one of our most common requests. We travel directly to the cemetery and engrave the additional date, name, or inscription on-site, carefully matching the existing lettering style and finish so the new work blends seamlessly with the original.
These terms are often used interchangeably, but there are some differences. A monument typically refers to a larger, more elaborate upright memorial — sometimes a family monument covering multiple graves. A headstone or gravestone is the upright stone placed at the head of an individual grave.
We work on granite, marble, limestone, and most natural stone surfaces — whether it's an upright monument, a flat grave marker, a bevel marker, or a slant marker. Granite is by far the most common material in Minnesota cemeteries, and it holds engraving exceptionally well over time. If you're unsure about a specific stone, reach out and we can confirm before scheduling a visit.
Yes — and we take custom design seriously. We work with an in-house graphic designer who can bring virtually any idea to life, from simple emblems and personal symbols to detailed portraits and one-of-a-kind artwork. Whether you come to us with a finished design or just a rough idea, we'll work with you to create something that feels exactly right. Laser-etched photographic portraits are also available on select stone types.
Absolutely. Monument cleaning and restoration is one of our core services. Over time, stone can accumulate moss, lichen, and grime that obscures lettering and dulls the appearance. We clean carefully using methods appropriate for each stone type, and we can re-highlight faded lettering to bring it back to a sharp, dignified finish.
Yes — yard rocks are one of our most popular and personal services. Whether you want a name, a meaningful phrase, or a custom design on a landscape boulder, we can engrave it right where it sits on your property. It's a beautiful, lasting way to honor a loved one, a pet, or a special place.
We do, and we take them just as seriously as any other memorial. Losing a pet is a real loss, and we're honored to help families mark that in a lasting way. We can engrave custom pet memorials on natural stone or yard rocks with names, dates, paw prints, and personal messages.
Yes — all of Minnesota. Kevin covers Southern and Central Minnesota, and Bradlee covers West Central and Northern Minnesota. Between the two of them, no corner of the state is out of reach. We also extend service into Northern Iowa, Western Wisconsin, and Eastern South Dakota.
All pricing is custom and based on the scope of your project — contact us for a quote and we'll give you a straightforward, honest number. We don't believe in surprising families with hidden fees. What we quote is what you pay.
Every job is done personally by Kevin or Bradlee — no contractors, no call centers, no middlemen. When you contact LetterNstone, you're talking directly to the craftsmen who will do the work. That personal accountability is something we're proud of and will never outsource.
Kevin founded LetterNstone in 2020, and since then we've completed over 15,000 engravings across Minnesota. What started as a small family operation has grown steadily through word of mouth — which we think says everything about how we approach this work.
We're a faith-driven family, but we serve families of all backgrounds, beliefs, and traditions with equal care and respect. We've engraved memorials for families of every faith and of none — and we bring the same craftsmanship and dignity to every single one.
Just reach out. Call Kevin directly at 320-522-5604 or send us an email at letternstone@gmail.com. We're a real family business — there's always a person on the other end who is happy to help.
Every memorial is different, and sometimes the best answer comes from a real conversation. Kevin and Karen are here — reach out anytime and we'll take it from there.
